Der Countdown bis zum heurigen Sauzipf Rocks Festival läuft, nur noch 17 Tage, dann ist es wieder soweit. Wir werden euch in den nächsten Newslettern jeweils 3-4 Bands vorstellen, damit ihr einen Überblick übers heurige Lineup erhaltet.

Torture Squad (Trash/Death Metal, BR)
Dass es in Brasilien mehr als knappe Bikinis und sonnenüberflutete Strände gibt, wissen Metalfreunde längst. Torture Squad sind seit Jahren ein Aushängeschild des Death/Thrash und sie liefern alles, was diesen ausmacht: genickbrechende Riffs, mörderische Vocals und schwere Drums sowie hier und da eingängige Parts. Das 2007er Wacken „Metal Battle“ konnten sie gegen 15 andere internationale Acts für sich entscheiden. Gerade auf ausgedehnter Europatournee unterwegs, werden sie auch für unsere Death/Thrash Liebhaber ein garantierter Höhepunkt.

Bud Spencer (Rock'n'Roll, HR)
Dass etliche Sauzipfrocks Crewmitglieder „die hard“ Bud Spencer (Schauspieler; Anm. d. Red.) -Fans sind, dürfte kein großes Geheimnis sein, jetzt wird’s halt offiziell. Und dass diese wunderbar rotzige Punk’n’Roll Band den gleichen Namen gewählt hat, dürfte auch kein reiner Zufall sein. Sei’s drum, eine Portion „Schweinerock“ wird hier in Kroatisch oder Englisch serviert und Themengebiete vom Saufen bis zu sexuellen Perversionen werden gekonnt abgehandelt. Sauzipf-Herz, was willst du mehr?


Alix (Psychedelic Rock, I)
Eine weitere italienische Abwandlung des Themas Stoner gibt uns die Band Alix zum Besten. Hier liegt der musikalische Schwerpunkt auf groovigen Soundteppichen die mit reichlich fuzzigen Gitarren gewoben werden. Die Band sticht im Besonderen durch ihre Sängerin heraus, die oftmals und sicher nicht zu Unrecht mit PJ Harvey verglichen wird, auf jeden Fall steht sie zu jeder Zeit über dem Soundgeschehen und gibt mit ihrer Stimme einen besonderen Touch.


Thytopia (Metal/Trash, A)
Nuclear Guns (SZR 4) bzw. Katharsis (SZR 6) sind am heurigen Sauzipf Rocks als Thytopia zurück. Auch wenn sie gerne den Namen wechseln (zuletzt wegen zu viel Namenskonkurrenz am Musikmarkt), musikalisch bleiben sie sich stets treu. Ihre Musik lässt sich keine Zwänge aufsetzen, sie kramen wie wild in den Kisten namens „Rock“ und „Metal“ herum und holen alles raus was ihnen gefällt um aus den verschiedensten Einflüssen ihren Stilmix zuzubereiten. Gerade sind sie dabei ihr Debütalbum abzuliefern, da dürfen wir uns wohl auf neues Material freuen.

Torture Squad (Trash/Death Metal, BR)
Real friends of metal music have already known there is more to Brazil than tight bikinis and sun-drenched beaches. Torture Squad have been a flagship of death/thrash for years and deliver everything which represents this style: neck-breaking riffs, gory vocals and heavy drums such as catchy parts here and there. They wrapped up the "Metal Battle" in Wacken 2007, among 15 other international acts. Now being on extended tour over Europe, they most certain will be a highlight for our death/thrash admirers!

Bud Spencer (Rock'n'Roll, HR)
It's not a big secret that quite a frew Sauzipf Rocks crew members are die-hard Bud Spencer (actor; editor's note) -Fans, but now it becomes official. And it might not be pure coincidence that this wonderfully snottily runk'n'roll chose the same name. Anyway, a portion of „pig rock" is served here in Croatian or English and topics from heavy drinking to sexual perversions are treated skillfully. Sauzipf-heart, what else in the world could you want?


Alix (Psychedelic Rock, I)
A further Italian modification of the stoner topic is given to us by the band Alix. This is where the musical emphasis is set on groovy sound carpets woven with richly fuzzy guitars. This band stands out especially because of their singer who is often - and surly not wrongfully - compared to PJ Harvey; anyhow, she is standing above the sound happening at any moment and with her voice gives a special touch to it.


Thytopia (Metal/Trash, A)
Nuclear Guns (SZR 4) resp. Katharsis (SZR 6) are back to this year's Sauzipf Rocks as Thytopia. Although changin their name a lot (the last time because of to much name rivalry on the music market), they remain true to themselves musically. Their music avoids compulsions, they fish wildly in the boxes labelled „Rock“ and „Metal“ and get everything out what pleases them to prepare their own style blend out of the most various influences. Just this minute they are delivering their debut album, so we can indeed be looking forward to new material.
